Jeremiah 33:3 `Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (NKJ)

Prayer is simply talking to God, and praying without ceasing (1 Thes. 5:17) is having a constant running conversation with God. But, if you think about it, there are two parts to carrying on a conversation with someone. There is talking, but there is also listening. Prayer is one way God talks to us and shows us things that we do not know.

When we talk we only hear what we already know, but when we listen to what others have to say, especially God, we can learn something new. Right now as you talk to God (pray) share with Him something such as problem in your life you are trying to overcome, an issue you have with a friend or family member, or a goal you have not been able to figure out how to achieve. Then take some time to stop, be quite, and listen. During the day in the quite times listen. At night when you lay down to go to sleep, talk to God again… and then be quite and listen.

Don’t be surprised if God shows you something new during these times. Like any great teacher He has a lot to show us if after we ask a question we will just stop, listen and wait for the answer.
