Matthew 6:8 …For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. (NKJ)

Some people ask “If God knows what I am going to ask before I ask it what is the point of praying?”

Look at it this way, as a child there were times your parents knew what you needed before you did. Many times they knew what you were going to ask before you ask it. If you are a parent you have been on both sides of this situation. Most of the time we give our kids what they need without them even realizing it. But sometimes, instead of just giving our kids what we know they want, we wait for them to come to us and ask. We want our children to open up and talk to us, to interact with us, to spend time with us and build the relationship. It is the same way with God. He wants us to talk to Him, to interact with Him and in the course of spending time with Him we build our relationship with Him. All that happens when we pray.

Today talk with God. Tell Him what you think you need. But also thank Him for something good that happened in your life that you did not pray or ask Him for, because many times God gives us the things we need before we ask.
