Something caught our eye over the close to forty years in ministry. What started as a “Oh wow, look at that,” coincidence revealed itself to be much more.

Describing the bible we would often use, 2 Timothy 3:16, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, (NKJ)

Explaining the relationship between God and His chosen people we would see, Joel 3:16, The Lord also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake; But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel. (NKJ)

Teaching Jonah’s story we see God’s description of Nineveh, Nahum 3:16, You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven. The locust plunders and flies away. (NKJ)

It was after one such time remember Bard saying, “Every time I come across a 3:16 verse, it’s really powerful and relevant. Have you noticed?”

“Hmm, maybe that would be a good sermon series to do?” I answered, only half seriously.

“No doubt.” He said, and that’s where it started.

There are 49. 3:16’s in the Bible. John 3:16 is far from being the only verse in the 49 that matters . There are a few “Huh?” verses, but mainly the 49 do a great job of summarizing the Bible and reflecting it’s theme.

This group will look at each 3:16 verse and see how it is relevant in our lives today!
